Siena Rugby Alumni

Since 1973 the Siena Rugby Club, both women and men's, has provided a refuge for strong individuals to grow academically, physically, and socially during their years in Loudonville, NY. The contributions that were made in the classroom, on the Rugby pitch, and to the Siena community as a whole stand unmatched. Today Siena Rugby Alumni continue that tradition.

2012 Siena Rugby Weekend Announcement

Please plan to join us on May 3rd - May 5th for this year’s Siena Rugby Alumni Weekend series of events.

GOLF REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!

We have expanded and modified the agenda based on feedback over the past few years with the hope of making your investment of time and money the very best it can be! This year’s weekend will start a day earlier with "Dine & Donate" on Thursday, May 3rd 5-9pm at the Recovery Room on Wolf Road. Click here to print out the form to present as you dine that evening. 15% of every dollar we spend will go to the Kellie M.Duggan Memorial Scholarship.

We will continue with our signature event, the 11th annual golf tournament, on Friday, May 4th. It will once again be held at the exclusive Fairways of Halfmoon Golf Course in Clifton Park (11:00 am shotgun). The all-important raffle will follow and the evening’s after-party will be held at The Ruck. This year, we’ve added some transportation with a bus providing round trips from the LaQuinta Inn at Latham Circle. If you are not staying in Troy, please take advantage of this service. Two hotels are providing discounts for Siena Alumni - La Quinta @ $79 per night & Hilton Garden Inn @ $101 - to register for either hotel just mention Siena Rugby Alumni.

Saturday’s Mass, brunch, and game schedule will follow our standard flow. The agenda provides all of the times and details. This year’s game will be followed by a pig roast to be held at the newly re-opened Daps. Food will be provided at no charge and alumni who have been out greater than five years will be asked for a $20 contribution in support of the adult beverages provided.

We will be opening our registration for the golf tournament on April 1st and running it through April 15th. Those of you on email will receive a prompt; all others should refer to the URL in the agenda. Please remember to register as early as possible to ensure a spot as we have hit our maximum number in the past few years. Please also consider bringing a donation for our raffle taking place after the tournament.

As a reminder, our scholarship is now providing two students with over $5,000 per year and we continue to contribute in excess of $8,000 each year to several other charitable efforts in the Siena community. Thanks in advance for attending and supporting as we continue to make a difference in the lives of many through our fundraising.

We will look forward to seeing you in May!

Happy Holidays!

It’s the time of year again to reflect back on all of the blessings we've had along with the challenges we have faced and give thanks to those who have helped us through. It is also the time to start looking at the year to come and set our expectations, goals, and plans to ensure we make the most of every moment.

It is with these thoughts in mind that we wanted to share with you a quick re-cap of 2011 from a Siena Rugby Alumni perspective. After this past spring’s alumni weekend, we surpassed the $250,000 mark of funds raised and over ten years of giving back to the Siena community! We continue to award two scholarships per year and provide Christmas presents to three families in need who otherwise would not be able to celebrate this blessed holiday season. It is hard to put into words the appreciation that these families show; it’s a special feeling to know you've had an impact on the lives of others. These are only two examples of our charitable endeavors that have changed lives.

While our Alumni efforts have certainly grown, the current players have also been hard at work in giving back to those in need, raising funds for Breast Cancer research and helping out those impacted by Hurricane Irene in the Town of Rotterdam.

As we look ahead to 2012, the planning for next year’s event is already underway so we'd like you to save the dates of May 4-5, 2012. You don't want to hear the stories old and new second-hand! In the meantime, we want to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year! We will look forward to seeing you in May!
