2007 Spring Alumni Game Update
Siena Rugby Alumni and Friends,
Another great weekend is on the books! We stuck to our standard agenda but this year provided some major highlights.
As usual, the weekend started off with our annual golf tournament. This year we hit the maximum of 140 golfers and as a result raised well over $10,000 that will be used for charitable giving in and around the Siena community. These gifts are given not only in memory of Terence McShane '86 and Michael Taddonio '84, but continue to reinforce the impact that Siena Rugby has on so many people. Special thanks to Joe McCrudden, Dave Feenan and Tom Thornton for orchestrating the entire golf outing! Friday ended at The Ruck, which was full of good times and exaggerated rugby stories, as usual!
Saturday started off on a special note as Father Kevin Tortorelli celebrated mass with the assistance of outgoing Siena President, Father Kevin Mackin and incoming Siena President, Father Kevin Mullen. We awarded Father Mackin with $1,000 towards his scholarship in recognition of all of the support he has given Siena Rugby over the years. Father Kevin Mullen has already asked to be included in next year's golf tournament and looks to be a real supporter of our endeavors. We quickly moved to the Ladies Alumni Game after the mass, which saw the lady alums pull a victory over the current Siena squad. This is mighty impressive given the achievements of the lady alumni under John Joyce and Tom Harvey! While the men's game ended in a tie, it was clear that new coach Kevin Quinn has done an outstanding job with the team. They were physical and played an outstanding brand of rugby. Thanks to this year's young alumni turnout, we were able to field a squad that could hold their own with these young lions! The day ended with our traditional party. Special thanks to Magic Man Tom Joyce for entertaining alumni children.
We had a tremendous turnout for all events over the two days. We want to thank all of you who attended and contributed to what proved to be another fabulous weekend! For those of you who were not able to attend, please mark your calendars for the first week in May next year to ensure you get to experience the camaraderie, friendship and entertainment this weekend holds. Don't be one of those who just reads about this in a wrap-up email!
This weekend would not be possible if it weren't for the efforts of many people...we'd like to thank all of our sponsors, who contributed to the outstanding gifts for our golf tournament, all those alumni who took extra time to contribute to the planning and execution of the weekend, and Nate Maloney who helped orchestrate all of the College resources to make this weekend a reality.
We hope you and your families have a great summer!

A message from Fr. Kevin Mackin:
Dear George,
Thank you for the $1,000 gift to the scholarship in my honor, the autographed Rugby ball and the Rugby hat. As always, I'm deeply grateful to the Rugby team for their esprit de corps and loyalty to Siena.
Since I don't have all the emails, would you please forward this email to the other Rugby alumni.
With warmest wishes,
Fr. Kevin E. Mackin, OFM
